Oh my God. This is just unbelievable. But strangely, as she attended her home coming rally, I am sure it crossed many a person’s mind. They are going to kill her. Who are they? Who were they?
Those loyal to her are going to be in complete anguish. Who knows what will happen next? I know it is going to get blamed on The Extremists. But Musharraf was the one who had the most to lose because of her popularity. She was his biggest threat. Her death will only benefit him. That is…if her supporters don’t cause complete chaos because of this. This is just so shocking. So awful. I can’t stop thinking about her daughters. I pray for her, her family, the people killed and injured at the time of her assassination, and for the people of Pakistan. May God keep them during this very, very difficult time.
From God we come and to God we return.

Alhumdulilah, this is a good post. This is an entirely shocking time for the entire world. It was going to be a paradigm shift for Pakistan and the people living within. I am so distraught to hear that a country is turmoil was so close to being given a chance to move forward, unfortunately the world works in mysterious ways.
Be peaceful Be prosperous.

I dont think Musharaf did it. I think she was the only opportunity for him to gain some legitimacy, through a powersharing agreement.
His poll numbers are awful, there is no way he’d win anything in even a semi-fair election. If he was really worried about her he never would have granted her amnesty and let her come back. Who lets their main opposition come back if they feel threatened?
I think it will come out Islamic extremists did it. She has been banging on a lot about how if her party comes to power they will go after the extremism elements inside and outside the government.
With her gone and no one waiting in the wings of the People’s Party it is likley the party will just break apart. That is the problem with political parties that are set up as familial dynasties rather than on real democratic methods.
In any event, it is a sad day indeed when the bullet and bomb again trumps discussion, debate and the polls in a Muslim country.

Salaam Alaikum,
Masha Allah, I love your new blog!
I think Abu Sinan is pretty spot on.
However, i’m sick of people saying it is the death of democracy, democracy doesn’t die with one person folks!
